![]() My advice is to first concentrate on getting your landforms imported and laying your Track. My own first Route Building experience with TS involved modelling a regional Branch Line off the UP Mainline and I learned a lot from that project. I recommend using Matt Peddlesden's Tutorials on Youtube to learn how to import SRTM Terrain Data and for laying Yard Track and setting up the AI. Then, you have to develop some serious proficiency with Train Simulator's World Editor ( another learning curve ) and, particularly, the Track and Terrain Tools ( which, again, requires some patience ). You have to learn 3D Modelling CGI ( which definitely has a learning curve attached ) with a serious emphasis on Scaling and the Texturing and Shading skillset. It takes a lot of patience and some familiarity with the Railworks program and its Files. I wish you lots of luck because it can be a very rewarding experience as it all comes together. I have also spent a lot of that time learning to create many custome assets. Just to give you an idea of what you may be letting yourself in for, I have spent more than 3 years creating a real life route - 80 miles long. If you do not have them let me know and I can send them to you. It will also be helpfull if you have the developer pdf files, which are sadly no longer available. To create rolling stock will require you to gather an enormous ammount of information about the vehicle you wish to create. You will need a huge ammount of patience. There will be many failures, much hair pulling and sleepless nights. ![]() If you have never created a 3D model before, you must be prepared for a very long & steep learning curve. DTG use 3DsMax (expensive) but there are cheaper or even freeware ones available (Blender for example). You will also need a 3D moddeling programme. You will find hundreds of tutorials if you do a google &/or youtube search.
